we had on our trip with Mehmet (our guide) visited a gold factory. Since we found additionally in Antalya and Alanya so many jewelers, we dedicate their own column to this topic...

Gold factory

The gold factory is called " Bazar 54 " and is east of Alanya direct at the coastal road to be found. I do not have to describe that more detailed, because at the coastal road innumerable advertisement posters the way do point there...

Just arrived there we were received friendly with a Initial cocktail. A very well German speaking salesman led us to behind windowpanes secured workstations of the goldsmith along and explained, what is made there.

Developing history sounds rather American to this chain of stores, which covers in the meantime about ten branches in Turkey.

Three students began some years ago with their few savings to rent themselves a old shop and sold stamps and cigarettes there. All gains were invested again and so continued to increase the business. Jewelry also taken up to the assortment and already soon was it shown sometime that this should be the way for the future. They opened the first Bazar 54 and today are it about ten branches in the order of magnitude of small furniture houses (thus enormous)...

They told us still much about the world market in things gold and also some about turnover figures and market shares - simple to much information, you can remember...

The sales room, into which we were led, remembers to large department stores in Paris or on gold fairs... - a sales room with individual stands only for us eight people completely alone...

This seemed to me however also to be a little problem - as we in discussions with the employees determined later, are in this house in the morning some groups; - in the afternoon only sorted bus journeys. The bored face printouts of the numerous young ladies said everything...

The salesmen, was however obviously endeavors to advise well. Although it was told to us during the sightseeing tour that they can work as manufacturers with considerably smaller profit margins and everything might be more favorable therefore here, it is also valid here: Act, act, act!

I had the vendor that I had asked for a golden clock from DM 3.300 demanded initially acted to DM 2.100.- .

In the front field, drinks free at a bar were also passed here - from the apple tea up to the Raki (Turkish anise liquor)

In this case, some "clever" visitors by the way had defective gold jewelry, that repairing immediately them here freely would release - that is just now service!

After all participants had provided themselves sufficiently with gold, we drove on again...

Jewelers

There are sufficiently jewelers! If therefore you do not find that in a business, you search for what or do not become agreed with the price - can under no circumstances be talked into taking you something: The selection is enormous.

Either 585er or 750er gold is mostly offered - one still hardly finds 333er...

The prices are, - depending on workmanship - between 15.- DM and 19.- DM per grams.

By normal concatenation of all thicknesses the price more is controlled at DM 15.- since that yes is no handiwork.

The prices then move at more extensive necking jewelry or handmade concatenation for the wrist earlier in the direction of 19.- DM per grams. However, the price is finally negotiation thing! A price of less than DM 15.- per grams is be agreed however relatively senseless, since world market prices apply yes as is generally known to gold, and no jeweler can go under this. The world market price is at present controlled by DM 9.- approx. per grams. The therefore, the factory, that are embedded difference of DM 6.- produced the jewelry have- and the wholesaler on. Therefore, the retailer has maybe a profit margin of 1 or 2 DM at a sale price of DM 15.-.

However, it is important that you look around Turkey in every jeweller, whether the corresponding certificates hang there on the wall. If these are missing, you should avoid the business.

These certificates mostly already hang visibly on the walls from the shop window. For our security I have in the jewellers, in which we may have shopped both, the jeweler and the certificates photographed, so that I can also now represent this.

Gold is offered here in Turkey in all three colors. Here, the tricolour one is also neatly noteworthy (yellow, white, red).

In addition, there is not only the "usual" pole product but quite also jewelry that her design from the oriental / Ottoman one may have received. The harem jewelry is also included or body jewelry for the oriental belly dance.
